 Shopping at the Tabor Center
« Thread Started on Jul 13, 2008, 3:52pm »

Alexis walked though the mall, trying to find a store that carried helium balloons. It was Saturday, and Jael had sent the younger girl on the mission to pick up more decorations for Don's birthday party, as well as some other things. The hall was immense, and they had quickly run out of decorations for the dance.
"Okay, so I need some silver and some red balloons, and a few of those clear-y ones with stars on them.. and streamers? Did Jael say streamers? Damn, why didn't I write this down?
"Wait, she said the star-shaped balloons, right? Not ones with stars on them.. Man, I've gotta call her.." she mumbled to herself as she wandered through the crowds, which was a slightly difficult task, because of her height. I'm not short, everyone else is just freakishly tall, she thought to herself, smiling.
Alexis dug through her purse and pulled out her black cell phone, clad in decals. The phone was a gift from Donahue. He spoils me so much, Alexis thought as she dialed Jael's number. It rang three times before Jael picked up.
"Alexis?" Jael's voice asked
"How did you know it was me?" Alexis asked curiously.
"I have you in my address book, and you have your own ring tone."
"Cool, what is it?"
"'This is Hallowe'en', the Marilyn Manson cover."
"I LOVE Manson!" she said, a little too loud, judging by the people in the flower shop who gave her strange looks.
"Er, uh yea, what was it that you needed me to pick up again? I totally forgot.." Alexis asked sheepishly.
"Man, Alexis, can't you remember even a simple task?"

((OOC: Lines of pure awesomeness up ahead. You'll know it when you read it. This is why I wasn't posting, I was waiting for something good to put into the post. Kudos to my online buddy for the pure crack.))

In his finely tailored black suit, Garth looked out of place in the mall, if nothing else. Surrounded by teenagers who were either wearing their lower-half clothes too high or too low; not only did it make him look over dressed, but it made everyone around him seem almost obsolete. Some of many reasons why he choose to shop only on occasion.

His dark tinted sun glasses reflected almost as much light as his bald head from the horrid florescent lighting, but he conveniently decided to ignore that fact. Garth had been picking up his order from Paradise Pens, as he had all of his pens custom made to avoid cheep, tacky brands. The pens even had his company logo on them, something Garth was particularly fond of. Nothing says power quite like a fine pine, but that was just a personal thought.

However, as he'd been paying for his order, his cell phone, a sleek black and silver colour scheme, of course, had began to ring. Garth had nearly groaned in frustration as his green eyes had swiftly read the caller I.D..

Steven Richardson, an intelligent young business man, but rather twitchy and scared to take risks. Newest member of Garth's menagerie; thus new to the concept of vampyres. More useless information passed instantly through Garth's head about Steven; twenty-four years old, 5'8" in height, skinny, very pale. Messy brown hair and bright green eyes. Single and he lived in a one bedroom apartment; though not for much longer.

Reluctantly, Garth flipped his phone open during the third ring, after paying for his order and thanking the cashier. He brought the phone to his ear as he began to exit the store, the idea being to go back to his limo which was waiting outside. He'd all ready bought his sunglass and stationary, so he didn't need anything more from this over crowded mall.

"Hello?" Garth said and a bored tone, though the person on the other end of the phone obviously hadn't noticed.
"Garth, is that you?!" Steve asked in a frightened sounding voice, as if he were standing on a chair to get away from a spider. Biting back a sarcastic reply, the vampyre answered calmly, "Yes, Steve, it's me. Is there a reason you phoned?"

Though he knew the answer, Garth thought it polite to ask anyway. The voice on the other end of the phone hesitated and he waited patiently, though a little annoyed, for the answer.
"Well, Garth... It's just... The vampyre thing..."
"You're going to need to be more specific." Garth answered calmly, he'd stopped at the door of Paradise Pens; he had no intention of screaming about vampyres over a crowd on rowdy teenagers outside in the halls. Not for the first time Garth wondered how the easily frightened Steven felt so at easy talking to him of all people; most people felt uneasy if not outright scared around him. He was a strange child indeed.

Steven began quietly, "Well, it's just that... What if when I change I just freak out and attack people?" He asked sheepishly.
"You mean from hunger?"
"Yeah, like what if I'm in a crowded place and suddenly I get this urge to eat or something?!"
Garth rolled his eyes behind his glasses, feeling a more than a little frustrated. For a law student, Steven relied a lot on things people said rather than the cold hard facts.
"I'm in a crowded place now, Steven. It's not that bad." He answered trying to keep the annoyed tone as he spoke.
"Where are you, Garth?" The squeaky voice asked from the other end.
"The Tabor Center. I'm shopping." Garth let the sarcasm slip for that sentence, but continued without the slightest pause, "And from the sounds of things, you're pacing around your apartment, again."
"You're in the Tabor Center?!?" Steve screeched into the phone, causing Garth to wince. "How can you be so calm and just walk around so easily?! What if you get hungry and like freak out and attack someone?!" Though the question was directed at Garth, there was also a hidden question. Steve was scared of hurting people; how cute. Though Garth just found it irritating about how much he obsessed over that fact; he was a business man. Business men weren't supposed to show weakness or a soft side.

"Have you ever been to a grocery store, Steven?" Garth asked with a sigh, the older man quickly came up with a example that even the rambunctious Mr. Richards would get.
"Well... yeah...? Of course I have..."
"Did you devour everything in sight?" Garth asked, knowing the conversation was almost over. It was like sensing victory.
"No." The voice answered sheepishly.
"Exactly." Garth answered in a tone that obviously meant the conversation was over.

With that he flicked his sleek cell phone closed, without even bothering to say goodbye. Though Garth was was able to hear: "Wait, but Gar--" from the other line before it had completely snapped shut. His thumb worked easily and he shut the phone off, he hardly wanted to deal with anymore of Steven's paranoia today.

Why did everyone he know have to be either annoying, idiotic or a fusion of the two?

"Alright, kay, I got it." Alexis said to Jael into the phone before ending the call and putting it back in her purse.
"Ah, wait! I gotta call Violet," she said aloud to herself, and pulled the phone back out and punching in Violet Johnson's number.
"Hey! Vi?" Alexis called into the phone as Violet answered. "Where are you?"
Alexis walked through the mall, past Event Dress Boutique as she listened to Violet.
"Oh man! You're here too? Maybe I'll run into you!!" Alexis said, giggling cheerfully, "I wanted to ask you if you could help me pick up some stuff for Don's b day party.
"What do you mean your hands are full? How much crap are you carrying?
"I'm just past the Events Dress place. Where are you?
"Uh-huh. Yea, I've gotta go to-" Alexis said, trying to sound serious and business-like, but failing miserably.
"Oh my god, GARTH!!" she called, spotting him coming out of Paradise Pen, talking on the phone.
"Garth!! Hi!!- I've gotta go Vi, I'll call you back later.. buh-bye!" she said, hanging up and skipping over to Garth.
"Garth!! How are you? Fancy running into you here, I didn't know you shop here!! Come to think of it, I didn't know you shopped.." Alexis giggled and ran to keep up with him. "Wow.. your head's shiny!" she exclaimed, staring at his bald head.

As she walked through the Tabor Center, she juggled the coffee, balloons, bags, and dry cleaning as she tried to dig her cell phone out of her large black purse. The gorgeous brunette flipped her hair back as she tried to find the phone while holding her Blackberry in her hand, along with a few random papers she had in the purse. Her knee-length skirt swished around her leather boots, and she shrugged her jacket back up onto her shoulder as it fell from the weight of the dry cleaning bag slung over her shoulder. She stopped, and fished her phone out of her bag, putting down the coffee quickly to re-arrange her belongings. She put the Blackberry back in the purse, along with the papers, and her Subway sub she had also been carrying. She tightened the balloons on her wrist, adjusted her jacket, and zipped up her purse, slinging it over her shoulder once again. Once she had complete control of her belongings, she picked up her coffee, sipped it, flipped open her cell, and continued walking.
As she walked down the mall, dialing Donahue's cell number and finding it busy, people male and female alike were turning their heads to gaze at her.

This was Violet Johnson, and she was easily the most beautiful person in Donahue Moscowitz's menagerie.
